Indications
Tranexamic acid is indicated for-
- haemorrhagic conditions due to diseases
- haematuria, bloody milk, bloody feces, uterine haemorrhage, post- partum bleeding, nasal bleeding, accidental bleeding etc.
- prevention and control of surgical haemorrhage.
Pharmacology
Tranexamic acid is a potent antiplasminic agent for use in cattle, horses, dogs, cats & pigs. It exercises a general haemostatic action against various kinds of bleeding by inhibiting fibrinolysis, egeneration of platelets and inhibiting the increase in vascular fragility caused by plasmin. It is an effective agent in oedema reduction.
Dosage & Administration
For intramuscular, subcutaneous & intravenous administration.
- Cattle & Horse: 1 ml/4-20 kg body weight (5-25 mg/kg body weight).
- Dogs, Cats and Pigs: 1 ml/7-10 kg body weight (10-15 mg/kg) once or twice daily.
- Dogs and Cats: As an Emetic: 1 ml/4 kg body weight (25mg/kg) by rapid I.V injection. Or, as Directed by the Veterinary Physician.
Side Effects
No significant side effects at recommended dosages.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Animal studies have not shown evidence of impaired fertility or adverse effects on foetus.
Precautions & Warnings
Withdrawal period: Meat: 2 days.

Store in a cool & dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
