Indications
Recovery from fever, pain (headache, earache, body ache, neuralgia, pain due to intestinal inflammation, rheumatoid fever, post vaccination pain, post delivery pain, post operative pain) and tissue swollen resulting from trauma, injury, burn or any other infectious diseases of both Animal & Poultry.
- Paracetamol bolus does not create any apparent gross lesions or histopathological lesions in visceral organs.
- Paracetamol bolus does not cause any Nephrotoxicity and can be used safely.
Pharmacology
Paracetamol has analgesic and antipyretic properties with weak anti-inflammatory activity. Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) is thought to act primarily in the CNS, increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting both isoforms of cyclooxygenase, COX-1, COX-2, and COX-3 enzymes involved in prostaglandin (PG) synthesis. Paracetamol is a para aminophenol derivative, has analgesic and antipyretic properties with weak anti-inflammatory activity. Paracetamol is one of the most widely used, safest and fast acting analgesic. It is well tolerated and free from various side effects of aspirin.
Dosage & Administration
Bolus:
- Cattle: 1 bolus/130-140 kg body weight thrice daily for 3 days.
- Poultry: 1 bolus/10-litre drinking water and administered 2-3 times daily for 4-5 days.
- Poultry: 1 g/2-3 L drinking water 2-3 times daily for 4-5 days.
- Livestock: 4 g/130-140 kg body weight thrice daily for 3 days. Or, as directed by the veterinary physician.
Interaction
Do not administer with other non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.
Contraindications
Paracetamol bolus does should be used with caution in those animals which are renally or hepatically impaired.
Side Effects
Side effects of Paracetamol bolus does are significantly mild, though hematological reactions have been reported. Pancreatitis, skin rashes and other allergic reactions occur occasionally.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Paracetamol bolus does is safe in all stages of pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings
Avoid use in dehydrated, hypovolemic or hypotensive patients and concurrent administration of potentially nephrotoxic drugs.
Storage Conditions
Protect from light, store in a cool and dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
