Indications

Cephalexin is indicated for poultry to prevent early chicks mortality, treatment of Coryza, Fowl Typhoid, Fowl Cholera, Bacillary White Diarrhoea, Colibacillosis, Ganggrenous Dermatitis and to combat secondary bacterial infections associated with viral diseases.

Pharmacology

Cephalexin Monohydrate inhibits transpeptidase enzyme which is essential for bacterial cell wall synthesis. Bacterial cell wall becomes porous and water enters into bacteria. Therefore Bacteria swell & burst out and finally bacteria are killed.

Dosage & Administration

Poultry:
  • For Prevention: To prevent early chicks mortality, give 20 g of Cephalexin daily for 3000 Chicks. or 1 g per 2-3 liters of drinking water for 3-5 days two times daily.
  • For Treatment: 20 g of Cephalexin for 1500 chicks or 250 growers or 100 layers. or 1 g per liter of drinking water for 3-5 days two times daily.
Cattle, Horse: Daily 15-20 g/50 kg body weight in drinking water for 3-5 days or (Cephalexin Monohydrate 22-33 mg/kg body weight).

Calves, Goat: Daily 5-6 g/20 kg body weight in drinking water for 3-5 days or (Cephalexin Monohydrate 22 mg/kg body weight).

Dog, Cat: Daily 3-4 g/10 kg body weight in drinking water for 3-5 days or (Cephalexin Monohydrate 22 mg/kg body weight). Or advised by the registered veterinarian.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicine out of reach of children.
