Indications

This is an anticoccidial drug for treatment and control of coccidiosis in poultry. Coctreat-EP is developed to take the advantage of the synergistic benefits of the three chemicals against a mixed infection of Eimeria acervulina, Eimeria maxima, Eimeria necatrix, Eimeria tenella, Eimeria brunette at relatively safe levels of each drug by itself.

Composition

Each gram soluble powder contains:
  • Amprolium 100 mg
  • Ethopabate 5 mg
  • Sulphaquinoxaline 60 mg
  • Vitamin K3 2 mg
  • Vitamin C 20 mg

Pharmacology

  • Amprolium is a competitive antagonist of Thiamine. It causes deficiency of Thiamine in protozoan body & stops protozoan metabolism.
  • Sulphaquinoxalin is a competitive antagonist of PABA which stops metabolism of protozoa and other gram-positive & gram-negetive bacteria. Amprolium & Sulphaquinoxalin acts synergistically.
  • Ethopabate increases the spectrum of activity into two fold and overcomes resistance which may be developed by the combination of Amprolium & Sulphaquinoxalin.
  • Vitamin K3 prevents hemorrhage.
  • Vitamin C acts as an anti-stress factor and synthesizes Collagen to repair intestinal ulcer.

Dosage & Administration

Treatment: 1 gm/2 litre of drinking water for 5-7 days.
Prevention: 1 gm/4 litre of drinking water for 3-4 days.

Interaction

It is better not to use with Furazolidone. Amprolium and Furazolidone both are antagonized the utilization of thiamin. In this regards using both simultaneously may deficit thiamin in the system.

Precautions & Warnings

Drug Withdrawal: Use prohibited at least seven days before slaughter.
