Pharmacology
Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic, which works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of bacteria & Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic, which irreversibly binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of bacteria and thereby inhibits bacterial protein synthesis. Sulphadimidine inhibits nucleic acid synthesis by blocking the conversion of Para aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) to co-enzyme dihydrofolic acid & Trymethoprim inhibits the biosynthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid from dihydrofolic acid and thereby inhibits bacterial nucleic acid synthesis. Bromhexine breakdown the structure of Mucopolysaccharide fiber in mucoid sputum & produces less viscous mucus, facilitates the removal of mucus by ciliary action.
