Indications

Bromhexine Hydrochloride is indicated for the treatment of respiratory disorders associated with productive cough in livestock, Poultry, Dogs, Cats & Pigs as supportive therapy. These includes-
  • Pneumonia, Bronchopneumonia, Rhinitis & Cough in Cattle, Goat, Sheep, Dogs, Cats & Pigs.
  • Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD), Infectious Bronchitis, Laryngotracheitis, Infectious Coryza, Influenza & Infectious sinusitis in Poultry.

Dosage & Administration

Bolus:
  • Cattle: 0.50 mg/ kg body weight (one bolus for 200 kg body weight) once daily for 5 days.
  • Horse: 0.20-0.40 mg/ kg body weight (one bolus for 250-500 kg body weight) once daily.
  • Dogs: 2 mg/ kg body weight (half bolus for 25 kg body weight) twice daily for 5 days.
  • Cats: 1 mg/ kg body weight once daily for 7 days.
  • Pigs: 0.20-0.50 mg/ kg body weight (half bolus for 100-250 kg body weight) once daily for 5 days.
Powder for solution:
  • Poultry: 1 g/4-5 liter of drinking water once daily for 5-7 days.
  • Cattle: 1 g/20 kg body weight (0.50 mg/kg body weight) once daily for 5 days.
  • Dogs: 2g/10 kg body weight (2 mg/kg body weight) twice daily for 5 days.
  • Cats: 1g/10 kg body weight (1 mg/kg body weight) once daily for 7 days.
  • Pigs: 0.20-0.50 g/ 10 kg body weight (0.20-0.50 mg/kg body weight) once daily for 5 days.
Add to feed or drinking water immediately before administration. Or, as directed by the Veterinary Physician.

Contraindications

Contraindicated for use in animals with known hypersensitivity to Bromhexine Hydrochloride.

Side Effects

Vertigo (dizziness), sweating, allergic reactions & gastrointestinal side effects may occur occasionally.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Bromhexine crosses the placental barrier. Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect harmful effects with respect to pregnancy, fetal development, parturition or postnatal development. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration in pregnant & lactating animal.

Precautions & Warnings

Withdrawal period: Cattle: Meat-1 day, Milk-should not be used in cattle producing milk for human consumption. Poultry: Meat & Egg-Not known.

Storage Conditions

Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
