Streptomycin + Penicillin

Indications
Respiratory, uterine & alimentary tract infections, mastitis, osteomyelitis, peritonitis, septicemia, cystitis, navel ill etc.
Pharmacology
Penicillin inhibits the bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibiting transpeptidase enzyme. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins. Streptomycin inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the 30s ribosomal subunit.
Dosage & Administration
Cattle/Buffalo/Horse: 2-3 ml/50 kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.
Sheep/Goat: 1ml/10 kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.
Dog/Cat: 0.5-1.5 ml/5-10 kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.
Before administration 8.4 ml water for injection to be mixed homogenously to prepare 10 ml solution to the powder supplied in vial. Or, as directed by the Registered Veterinary Physician.
Sheep/Goat: 1ml/10 kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.
Dog/Cat: 0.5-1.5 ml/5-10 kg body weight by IM injection once daily for 3-5 days.

Interaction
With medicine: This injection may react with Cephalosporin & Aminoglycosides.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin or streptomycin, renal dysfunctions, disturbances of auditory or vestibular organs, use in small herbivores like rabbits, guinea pigs, prolonged use in pregnant animals because of toxicity to the fetus.
Side Effects
Common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, anorexia, spinning sensation, injection site reactions (pain, irritation & redness), tingling or prickling sensation in the face, rash, fever and swelling may be seen.
Rare side effects: High doses may result in renal & auditory dysfunctions and sometimes hypersensitivity reaction may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation
This injection is safe for use in pregnancy & lactating animals.
Precautions & Warnings
It may produce allergic reactions. If allergic reactions appeared, This injection should be discontinued.
Withdrawal period: Meat: 18 days & Milk: 2.5 days.

Overdose Effects
Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, changes in vision, changes in behavior, uncontrollable shaking, rash etc.
Storage Conditions
Store below 30°C temperature & dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
