Indications
- PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) & PCOS associated infertility
- Menstrual disorders such as irregular menstruation, amenorrhea
- Hyperandrogenism complaints such as hirsutism, acne, acanthosis nigricans,
- Anovulation
- Insulin resistance
Pharmacology
D-chiro-inositol and Myo-inositol are two types of inositol that are naturally occurring in the body. A combination of D-chiro-inositol and Myo-inositol shows beneficial effect for women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Combination improves insulin resistance, reduces androgen level, helps to maintain healthy ovarian functions and promotes ovulation in women with PCOS. It also reduces hyperandrogenism related skin disorders like hirsutism, acne and acanthosis nigricans.
Dosage & Administration
Orally one tablet twice daily for at least 3 months or as directed by a physician.
Interaction
Inositol may lower blood sugar levels. Taking inositol along with diabetes medications might reduce blood sugar level.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Side Effects
Well tolerated in recommended dose.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Several human studies have been conducted with inositol that has no clinically relevant side effects.
Precautions & Warnings
Limited data is available regarding the usage in patients with liver & hepatic impairment. Patient should consult with doctor if the patient has a liver or hepatic impairment or any concerns regarding this.
Overdose Effects
Generally, inositol seems to be safe and well tolerated in recommended dose.
