Indications
Cattle: For the treatment of mastitis, respiratory tract infection, foot rot & septicemia etc.
Calves: E. Coli caused bacterial infections.
Horse: Respiratory tract infection & other bacterial infections.
Pigs: Respiratory tract infection & Metritis-Mastitis-Agalactia (MMA) syndrome.

Composition
Each vial contains Cefquinome 225 mg (as sterile Cefquinome Sulfate INN). Each ampoule contains 5 ml Benzyl Alcohol 1% BP for reconstitution.

Pharmacology
Cefquinome is 4th generation Cephalosporin antibiotic. It has extremely broad spectrum activity & high stability against β-lactamase. It has high cellular penetration & faster action. Cefquinome kills bacteria by inhibiting cell wall synthesis through inhibiting transpeptidase enzyme.
Dosage & Administration
Route of administration: IM/IV only.
Direction for reconstitution: Add 5 ml Benzyl Alcohol 1% into 225 mg powder for injection and 10 ml Benzyl Alcohol 1% BP into 450 mg powder for injection. Shake well until the powder is dissolved properly.
Cattle: Mastitis- 1 ml/45 kg body weight (1 mg/kg) IM once daily for 2 days. Respiratory tract infection & foot rot- 1 ml/45 kg body weight (1 mg/ kg) IM once daily for 3-5 days.
Calf: E. coli caused septicemia 1 ml/22 kg body weight (2 mg/kg) IM once daily for 3-5 days. Should not be used more than 10 ml per injection site.
Horse: 1 ml/45 kg body weight (1 mg/kg) IM/IV once daily for 5-10 days.
Foal: 1 ml/45 kg body weight (1 mg/kg) IM/IV twice daily for 6-14 days. It is recommended to start the treatment with IV injection for 3 days & then follow IM injection. Pigs: Metritis-Mastitis-Agalactia (MMA) syndrome1 ml/22 kg body weight (2 mg/kg) IM once daily for 2 days. Respiratory tract infection- 1 ml/22 kg body weight (2 mg/kg) IM once daily for 3-5 days. Or as directed by the registered veterinarian.

Interaction
With medicine: It should not be used with any bacteriostatic antibiotics. With food & others: Not known.
Contraindications
Contraindicated for animals hypersensitive to Cephalosporin antibiotics & other β-lactam antibiotics.
Side Effects
Common side effects: Localized tissue reaction may occur in some cases, but it will be resolved within 15 days of last administration. Rare side effects: Not known.
Pregnancy & Lactation
There is no information on reproductive toxicity in cattle & horse. However, risk & necessity should be considered during administration of medicine in pregnant & lactating animals.
Precautions & Warnings
Do not use Cefquinome simultaneously with any bacteriostically acting antibiotics.
Withdrawal time
Cattle: Meat- Meat must not be consumed up to 2 days after administration of this medicine, Milk- Milk must not be consumed up to 36 hours after administration of this medicine.
Horse: Meat- Meat must not be consumed up to 4 days after administration of this medicine, Milk- Not to be used in horses producing milk for human consumption.
Withdrawal time

Storage Conditions
Store below 25°C temperature, dry place & protected from light. Reconstituted injection may be stored in a refrigerator 2° to 8°C (36° to 46° F) for up to ten (10) days Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
